Sport is one of the most powerful forces in human culture. It crosses languages, borders, and generations. It has been a stage for civil rights, national pride, personal triumph, and collective grief. And yet the full depth of that history — the stories behind the stories — is rarely told in one place.
The National Sports Museum is being built in New York to change that. VNSM is its digital extension: the home for every exhibition, every oral history, every artifact and moment that cannot be confined to four walls.
Where the physical museum will welcome visitors to New York, VNSM welcomes the world. There are no tickets. No closing times. No geographic barriers. Just sport, history, and the stories that connect us.
VNSM launches in 2026 — the same year the National Sports Museum opens its doors in New York, and the same year the FIFA World Cup returns to North American soil for the first time since 1994.
VNSM is not separate from NSM — it is NSM's digital presence, produced in parallel with the museum's physical programming. Two halves of one institution: one with walls, one without.
